RCMP continue to search for missing woman, as search and rescue efforts conclude

RCMP renew their appeal for information surrounding the disappearance of Lalie Honeywell, calling for anyone with dash cameras to review their footage for the missing woman.

On May 12, 2020 at approximately 9:30 a.m., Merritt RCMP received a report of a missing Merritt woman. Lalie Honeywell was last seen on May 11, 2020 at the Double D Inn located at in the 1500-block of Nicola Avenue in Merritt at approximately 6:00 p.m.

Items believed to belong to Honeywell were located near Nicola Avenue in the vicinity of the Nicola River Bridge. The location of the belongings prompted a search of the Nicola River by Nicola Valley Search and Rescue (SAR), who were supported from the air by Kelowna RCMP Air Services.

The search of the high waters of the Nicola River has now been completed, with negative results, states Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, RCMP Southeast District MRO. Although search and rescue personnel are no longer scouring the area, the RCMP continues its search for Lalie and its investigation into her disappearance.

At this time, investigators are urging motorists who travelled in the area of the Nicola River Bridge, along Nicola Avenue, any time after 5 p.m. on Monday May 11 to review their footage for any signs of Ms. Honeywell, adds Cpl. O’Donaghey.

Lalie Honeywell is described as an Indigenous woman, 44-years-old, 5 ft 3 in tall, weighs approximately 150 lbs, with short brown hair and brown eyes. She was last seen wearing jeans, a purple shirt and a pair of DC brand shoes.
