File # 2017-29546

Coquitlam RCMP are asking for your help to identify the operator of an electric mobility scooter that was involved in a collision with a pedestrian at the corner of Austin Avenue and Westview Street in Coquitlam at 10:20 a.m. on Friday, September 15th.

The pedestrian, an 86-year-old woman, fell down after being bumped by the scooter and died of injuries sustained in the fall.

At this point this looks like a tragic accident with no criminal intent, said Corporal Michael McLaughlin. But we still need to talk to the operator of the scooter to hear his side of the story.

Witnesses describe the scooter operator as:

The electric mobility scooter he was riding is described as silver or grey with no basket on the front.
Anyone with information that could help identify the man is asked to call the Coquitlam RCMP non-emergency line at 604-945-1550, ask for the Investigative Support Team, and quote file 2017-29546.
