Coquitlam RCMP has seized over 1500.00 cash and two replica guns during the execution of a search warrant that came from a fraud investigation.
Investigators linked a stolen credit card that had been taken from an unlocked vehicle and was used at several businesses in the Port Coquitlam area. Video surveillance from those businesses helped police identify a suspect who lived in the 3000 block of Raleigh Street, Port Coquitlam.
Coquitlam RCMP’s Youth Detail Section executed a search warrant at the home just after 8:00 a.m. on August 26, 2020, and a 37-year-old man was detained. After police searched the house for several hours, the man was released. He may face charges at a later date.
Covid-19 has temporarily changed the types of investigations that are being done by the Youth Detail Section, says Constable Deanna Law.
Youth is always our first priority, but this was a file where we were able to support our Front Line officers.
The evidence seized during the search included:
- 1530.00 dollars Canadian cash
- 85.00 dollars (US) cash
- Cocaine, heroin, methamphetamine and large amounts of drug paraphernalia
- Stolen credit cards
- Stolen cheques
- Stolen property obtained by crime
- 0ne BB gun
- One replica firearm
Police would like to remind everyone to lock your vehicles and keep all valuables with you. If you have concerns about criminal activity in your community, or see a crime in progress, please call the non-emergency number at 604-945-1550.
