Junior Mountie Police Academy Media Day

There are less than two weeks left before the start of the Coquitlam RCMP's 3rd annual Junior Mountie Police Academy and volunteers are busy getting ready to welcome more than 130 kids and teens to gather at the Poirier Recreation & Leisure Complex for four days of fun, excitement and boot camp styled training.

The media are invited to attend the camp this year to see the Junior Mountie cadets training. During the 4-day camp, these energetic youngsters will participate in real-life scenarios focusing on policing skills such as taking fingerprints, handcuffing, interviewing witnesses, processing crime scenes and conducting vehicle stops.

We are extremely fortunate to have a city that is so supportive of our youth initiatives. We are also grateful that a number of sponsors in the community understand the importance of creating a positive impact in these youngster’s lives, said Cst. Danielle Pollock. The Show 'N' Shine is a great way for the youths, their friends, family and the community to get to know the first responders in our community. We hope the community is able to attend the event – it's the only one of its kind in the Lower Mainland.

If you have any questions regarding the Junior Mountie Camp, please email: or leave a message at 604-945-1550 voicemail box 1475.
