File # 2024-7970

A man remains in custody on two counts of prohibited driving, following a rural Kamloops investigation Monday night.

On March 18, 2024, around 8:30 p.m., a Tk’emlúps Rural RCMP frontline officer was conducting proactive patrols in the area of Chilcotin Road when he observed a truck being driven by a person who was prohibited.

The officer found the vehicle parked soon after, said Corporal Crystal Evelyn, Kamloops RCMP spokesperson. With the assistance of backup, the officer located the suspect driver nearby and took him into custody.

Steven Stuart Douglas Gardner, 28, of Clearwater, is charged with two counts of operating a vehicle while prohibited from doing so. He was held for a bail hearing, during which he was remanded until his next appearance date, scheduled for March 21, 2024.

Anyone with information that may be related to this investigation is asked to please contact the Kamloops RCMP Detachment at 250-828-3000.
